Sexual Health Screen

Sexual Health Screen

There are many different Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs). At prestige private medical we  have tests for a comprehensive range of infections. Our medical team of  experts have compiled information about the STIs we test for, to help you decide which tests to choose.

Whether you are worried about a recent incident, or just want peace of mind, we will have the right screens and tests for you. We will get you your results quickly, and will help you with any treatment you need if you do test positive.

Rapid Testing

We can test for sexually transmitted infections and diseases while you have a cup of tea or coffee. Within 20 minutes of taking a blood or swab sample we can give you an answer to your concerns. If any tests have been identified as positive we will initiate treatment and advise you on how to manage the condition.

We can test for the following pathogens within 20 minutes – we show the amount of time from potential exposure one should wait to get an accurate result.

HIV and Syhphilis

Prep Clinics  pre-exposure prophylaxis, PrEP, provides effective protection against HIV infection. Both treatment options are available to men and women. They are taken at different times relative to potential HIV exposure.

PrEP is taken following potential exposure to HIV, whereas PrEP is taken before any exposure to the virus. PrEP is often taken by the partners of HIV positive people, particularly those for whom the viral load is still detectable. PEP and PrEP are not suitable treatments for those who are HIV positive.

PREP Clinics are very discreet and 100% confidential. The staff are trained to the highest standards within sexual health services.

PrEP

  • PrEP is a course of tablets taken before sex to help stop people from getting HIV
  • PrEP has been found to be effective in both regular and on demand doses – your nurse  will be able to advise you on this
  • If you are HIV negative and take your PrEP medication as instructed, you will not require PEP treatment as well
  • PrEP will not protect you against any other STIs

If you are using PrEP it is advisable to get  a full sexual health screen once every three months, so you can get tested for any other infections.

You can find out more about PrEP treatment by calling and speaking to a member of the sexual health team.

Choose my STD Test

In order to test accurately for all STDs, STIs and HIV, you need to leave a minimum window or incubation period in between any incident that you are concerned about, and the time of the test.  If you test too soon, there is a possibility that the STD, STI or HIV may not show up on the test and you may test negative when you are not. It is important that you are honest with yourself and us about your incubation period.  There is no maximum period, and you do not have to be tested on an exact date once you have reached the minimum time. Most people do not have any symptoms if they have an STI or STD so it is important to test regularly.

STI Tests from 14 days after any incident, with or without symptoms:
  • Early Platinum (using the Early Detection Screen for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C)
  • Comfort Screen (urine only) self swab for females
  • Comprehensive Screen
  • Confirm Screen
  • Peace of Mind Screen
  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
  • Hepatitis C
  • Syphilis
  • Mycoplasma
  • Gardnerella
  • Trichomonas
STI Tests from 28 days after any incident, with or without symptoms:
  • Essential Screen
  • Full Screen
  • Hepatitis Screen
  • Complete Screen
  • Confidence Screen
  • Conclusive Screen
  • HIV I/II and p24 antigen HDUO Test
  • HIV Rapid Test (Results in Clinic)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Herpes I/II
